Islamic Studies
The Masjid Baitul Amaan Islamic Studies or Maktab offers a broad Islamic studies syllabus alongside the study of Quranic Arabic & Tajwid. We admit children between the ages of 5 – 16 years of age. To apply, please download and complete the form and bring in to a member of the Masjid.
Class times
Classes run 5 days a week from Monday to Friday and during term time only. Classes run in two sessions. Session 1 runs from 4.30pm – 6pm. Session 2 runs from 6.15pm to 7.45pm
How to apply
If you wish to apply please complete an application form that can be picked up from our office or downloaded below. All completed applications should be returned to Masjid Baitul Amaan,253 Halfords Lane, Smethwick, West Midlands, B66 1BD. Failure to complete the forms fully will result in a delay in your application being processed.
Please note:
- Masjid Baitul Amaan only admits students in September each year.
- If the application is sent by post or email we will acknowledge your application.
- Once there is a space available you will be contacted via the details you have provided.
We will endeavour to place students in their choice of session, however, upon no availability, you will be offered a space where ever possible.
Daily Tafsir
A study of the Qur’an, its themes, messages, rhetorical features and philosophical nuances — all based upon the authoritative tafsirs of our tradition. It sufficiently equips general audiences and students of knowledge alike with a thorough grasp and firm foundation in Qur’an.
Tajweed Classes
In the context of the recitation of the Quran, tajwīd is a set of rules for the correct pronunciation of the letters with all their qualities and applying the various traditional methods of recitation (Qira'at). In Arabic, the term tajwīd is derived from the verb jawada, meaning enhancement or to make something excellent. Technically, it means giving every letter its right in reciting the Qur'an.
